5†months ago, I was in Lanao del Norte, a place where everything is so peaceful. Which is not? Salute to the Fallen SAF 44. I can’t help being stuck in my room. That day, I decided to do a quick visit on must-see places in Lanao del Norte.
Maria Cristina Falls
First stop, part of Iligan City and located at the boundary between two barangays. Barangay Ditucalan and Barangay Buru-un. It is sometimes called the “twin falls” as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. If you remember your elementary or high school days and your topic was body of water, Maria Cristina Falls is one of the example in your†common textbook, The “Sibika at Kultura”.
BOTANICAL AND ZOOLOGICAL GARDEN
Maria Cristina Falls powers the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant, one of the several hydroelectric plants that harness Agus River. Before you reach the main attraction, which is the Falls, you would pass by the Botanical and Zoological Garden.
Entrance fee†to the park is Php 25.00 and multi-cab tour ride costs Php. 10.00 round trip.
Next is Tinago Falls or Linamon Falls. Located†in both the towns of Linamon and Iligan City, it is the most photographed waterfalls in Lanao.
How to get there? From Iligan City, take the bus to Ozamis and†tell the conductor to drop you off at Linamon. Look for a Habal-Habal which will take you to the main entrance for the Price of Php. 20.00 – 50.00 per ride.†I paid the entrance fee for Php 120.00 and made a 15-minute trek down to the main site.
Sadly, what’s happening in Mindanao, really stays in Mindanao.
